Like Israelis, Americans also did not exactly have an easy time with the name “Sharav.”
He got called Shiraz (like the wine) a lot, and also Shavar (which I don’t think has any meaning), and very occasionally Siobhán.
One person called him שרברב (plumber), which I kept for him as nickname. It rhymed nicely with כלבלב!
