Sharav hated any situation where the ground or floor did not seem real, especially bridges, tunnels and the kind of stairs that didn’t look completely solid.
He was fine with elevators, but of all the places where we lived, taking the elevator was only critical in two of them, our first apartment in San Francisco and our only apartment in Seattle, each just a one-year lease.
