Scrolling through my album of Sharav pictures is, besides a memorial to him, a monument to the great advancements in camera technology over the past 16 years. When I adopted him, the original iPhone had been announced but not yet released (I had a Sony Ericsson dumb phone), and I was shooting with a Canon Powershot G5 and my vintage Nikkormat FTN. I’ve subsequently owned an iPhone from every generation, and advanced to digital SLR (Canon Digital Rebel XT) in 2008, full frame (Nikon D600) in 2013, and mirrorless (Canon RP) in 2021.
Did the pictures improve in quality? Of course they did – though I could always rely on Sharav to make a picture by smiling, or to ruin it by turning away or scowling.
