Though he loved playing with other dogs on the street and loved dog parks when he was younger, by the time we moved to New York in 2013, Sharav had mostly lost interest in specialized dog runs (maybe because I took him everywhere off leash, so there wasn’t really anything special to him about an outdoor place where he could run around without being leashed).
If I took him to the dog run in Madison Square Park and told him to run around, he would spend most of his time running back to me for attention. I would turn away to face the other direction and pretend that I wasn’t there, and eventually give up and take him out for a walk – but as soon as we got half a block away, he would see another dog, and run over to lick and jump.
