When Sharav and I moved from San Francisco to New York in 2013, he stayed with my parents in Maryland while I rented an apartment, and then he joined me once I had a place for us to stay. We then followed variations on that pattern on subsequent moves.
In 2017, while I was planning our move to Seattle and Sharav had just gotten sick from another dog at the kennel, he again went to stay with my parents for a few weeks, and then joined me for the flight.
A year later when we moved back to New York, he again stayed with my parents while I came to the city and looked for an apartment and signed a lease.
In 2021, the solution was to board him at the kennel for a week, then pack, move, start unpacking, and pick him back up when there was a space for him in the new apartment in Brooklyn. I got him a new bed for the new apartment, and he vomited on it within 60 seconds.
